EquiAlt Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund – (EQOZF)

‘EquiAlt Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund’-(EQOZF) Is a Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) that was created in 2018 to spur economic growth in economically-distressed communities throughout the United States by providing tax benefits to investors. An Opportunity Zone is an economically-distressed community where new investments are eligible for preferential tax treatment. These ‘Zones’ are an economic tool that are designed to create economic development and job creation in these distressed communities.

1.) Investors can defer tax on any prior gains invested in a ‘QOF’ if sold or exchanged, within the specified holding periods or December 31, 2026. If the ‘QOF’ investment is held for longer than 5 years, there is a 10% exclusion of the deferred capital gains. If held for more than 7 years, the 10% becomes 15%. If the investment is held for the full 10 year term there is a 100% tax forgiveness on original investment and interest earned.
2.) If the investor holds the investment in the Opportunity Fund for at least ten years, the investor is eligible for an increase in basis of the ‘QOF’ investment equal to its fair market value on the date that the ‘QOF’ investment is sold or exchanged.

EquiAlt is raising $500 Million for our ‘Qualified Opportunity Fund’, EquiAlt can leverage our current experience in these markets, which are now considered ‘Qualified Opportunity Zones’ offering access to investors these tax benefits including potential deferment and/or forgiveness on any realized capital gains.
